I recently switched from Dish Network to DIRECTV to reduce my monthly costs. I wanted the DVR, Whole House (DVR) equipment, but I don't have HD TVs. The salesman said that I had to order HD equipment to get the Whole House capability, but I could have the technician disable the HD feature, then activate it later if and when we buy HD TVs. The technician said you can't disable it; it's an inherent feature of the equipment. I called Customer Service immediately after the installation and they said that the salesman had put a note in my account that I should be credited the HD monthly charge. She added another note to that effect. My first bill included the HD charge and I called Customer Service. For 1 hour I was put on hold and bounced around from one person to the next and I finally spoke with a supervisor. Bottom line - 1) they found no notes in my account about an HD credit, 2) they would not credit me the HD charge, and 3) my only recourse was to change to standard DVRs and BUY the equipment, which would be several hundred dollars.in other words, I have no recourse.
