Commitment contract & cancellation of service

I've an issue with Direct TV. I was a person for 8 years after which my DVR was not working right. I needed new gear. Direct TV explained that I'd need to signal a-2 year determination agreement to obtain new gear. I told them NO THANKS. The following day a DVR came on my door-step via Fedex. I named them to ensure that I'd not be accepting to some 2-year dedication easily applied the DVR. They stated not a problem, no dedication

I continued to own issues with the brand new gear and named many period. I had been never advised that I had been under a brand new dedication contract plus they didn't provide to complete something to repair my issues, and so I went with another organization. After installing of new gear from the fresh company. I named Direct TV to stop. Today they tell me that I'm under dedication contract and certainly will need to spend additional to stop. What must I do next? I never decided to the dedication.
