No Info, No payment - Bill payment

I received an automated call from peoples gas. I immediately called the company to inquire about the payment I previously made. The service representative whose name was said so low (mumbled) that I could not understand what she called herself. However, I could hear "I can't give you any information because the social security number do not match." What a bunch of crap. I know that they can call the home because I was called. Now, why couldn't the representative just call my house and give me the information. I wish we could buy gas from someone else. When the representatives are out of a job, they will blame the company or automation instead of their own stupidity. I tried to e-mail them but had even worst luck there. The contact address said someone would get in touch with me in two days. Why? E-mail is almost instant or is that automated as well.
