How is it possible that a supposed “Global” travel agent can send a confirmation email, the day before confirming flights and HOTEL, and yet upon on arrival at said hotel (in the early hours of the morning) we are informed rather abruptly that the hotel cannot accommodate us! A hotel that we booked in good faith through Expedia, after reading the glowing reviews listed on your website! After several attempts we managed to get through to someone whilst standing on a street corner in NYC, in November, at midnight and at the same time being 5 months pregnant; we were told that expedia hadn’t booked us a replacement and only after we had called and prompted them, would you look into it! At 1am expedia assured us that you had finally found us a room in hotel comparable however was not the case! We were also told that we would receive a room upgrade with spectacular views of the city for the inconvenience caused; this was another blatant lie, unless you consider the view of a brick wall spectacular! But as it was now 1 am and we had been on an international flight we had no choice but to accept what was offered. Then once again calling expedia.com to find a solution to the problem the following day, incurring vast costs due to making international calls on a mobile, I was met with what I can only describe as the most unhelpful and rude individual, who was not only unable to grasp the situation but kept repeating the same scripted dribble but made no attempt to apologise! Her only argument was that we had accepted the room/hotel but given the hour and what choice did we have?! She claimed that the $25 the previous Expedia employee had credited our account with for the additional cab fare was compensation enough for ruining our trip!!! She also informed us that they had tried to contact us earlier that evening – firstly, we were on an international flight but more importantly why was it left so late?! Secondly as any semi intelligent person knows you cannot receive calls on a flight! We received no notification of a missed call and no voicemails were left which can only lead us to believe that she was lying!
