Urumqi Hand luggage troubles

With such long waiting line at the entrance of Urumqi AP, and such a long waiting line in the check in desk, I had to be assisted by an AP rep. To go check in my hand bag, because it has a telescopic handle, and it's forbidden in Urumqi to bring such to the passanger cabinet. The front desk lady said now I have overweight, because I already had a piece of 20kg luggage checked in. I told her is doesn't matter if I carry it or it's checked in. After all, it's the same airplane, and you cannot expect a business traveler to know that when he comes with a wheeled small hand bag. After 3 minutes of arguing, I told her I'll pay. Then she said it's too late to check in. The security guy didn't care much, I asked for the manager, and no one helped to call him in. I had to put my laptop and all my documents in a big bag (40 RMB), and leave behind my hand bag. With such time pressure, I forgot to empty the small compartment, with my American Passport (I have another one), and many important papers. Luckily, the woman to whom I I left the hand bag, found my bussiness card inside and contacted my Chinese office. She will deliver the papers.

There is so much stupidity in this story, it's unbeleivable.
