Traveling & Tourism

I had made reservations for two rooms @ Holiday Inn Select, Pittsburgh University Center. It costs over $300 "discounted."

The two boys who were to be going to Pittsburgh for a sporting event and to tour University of Pittsburgh had to cancel at the last minute. I called the hotel. "Sure you can cancel one room when you arrive." Now, the fun begins...

I got lost in Pittsburgh. When I called the hotel, Crystal @ the desk didn't let me finish what I was asking, but put me back in to the automated telephone system. The directions were for finding the hotel from the PA TURNPIKE. Finally, I found the hotel.

When I checked-in at 12:30 AM, Crystal (lovely, arrogant teenager in a cutsie uniform) informed me that I couldn't cancel the extra room. The coach said she would stay in the extra suite rather than the Econo Lodge. I was charged $30 for parking in the hotel's parking lot. There was no ashtray in the rooms, the electronic key didn't work (Crystal programmed it & security had to let the coach in her room), there were food crumbs in my bed (I'm talking whole chips!), there was no the cable, and no water pressure. It gets better...

I heard the coach ask me to over to her room. She showed me the bathroom. There were red pubic hairs in the bathtub & shower walls. One of the towels appeared to have dried feces on it and one appeared to have mascara on it. I called the front desk... No answer. The coach cleaned the bathtub herself, collected the towels, and handed them over to the front desk the next day.

The computer LAN connection didn't work, it took 30 minutes for room service to deliver a cold breakfast, & 15 minutes to get an ashtray. That should have been in the room anyway. The coach cut her foot on the rough ends of the burnt carpet. That night after complaining, CORNELIUS, the night manager, said"I would get a full refund." After waiting a week, I contacted Holiday Inn, I was sent a coupon for one night stay @ any Holiday Inn. I contacted the Better Business Bureau. According to their investigation, Cornelius called me a liar, and no refund. The BBB said "there's nothing we can do, but we'll keep your complaint on file." Why? I complained to the AG ConsumerAdvocate's office (an office invented to give some politician's son-in-law a job).in the end, I'm getting $100 refunded, an apology from the general manager, FRANK IANNOTTA, & the coupon for a free stay @ Holiday Inn. That was 3 months ago, and I still don't have the money!

Stay away from ALL HOLIDAY INNs! One additional thing, the cleaning staff uses Fabreeze to clean the bathtub & shower walls. It's disgusting & unsanitary, and the AG's office didn't care.
