Very Unsanitary Rooms, False Promises, Parking 1 Mile Away

Traveling & Tourism

Me and my spouse are Mobile Disc Jockey's and we recently made a trip to Pennsylvania for a Corporate Event and decided to stay at the Holiday Inn based on their "Excellent?" reputation, but the stay was full of surprises:

1. When we first booked the hotel (well in advance) we called to verify that there would be room for us to park our truck and trailer and they verified parking for both the truck and trailer was "not a problem at all". When we arrived they had a biker convention going on, wedding reception, open bar and plus the residents in the hotel. There was no place to park, not 1 spot. If they are going to have all of these happenings at the same time, why didn't they consider expanding their parking lot? Instead, the hotel had us park on the side of the expressway 1 mile from the entrance and walk down the road with our belongings in hand at 2:45AM.

2. Also when we booked the hotel we confirmed that a morning breakfast was included with our package with the hotel was able to confirm via telephone. When we woke up and went down to the lodge, they told us that because we booked the hotel with "hotwire.com" that breakfast was not included. I considered paying for breakfast (money not being an issue) but when I found out they wanted $11 per person for a egg, bacon and toast breakfast, we stopped by elsewhere on the way back to our office.

3. Another customer in the lobby as we were complaining was waiting for a "replacement room" because there was urine stains on the lamp shade, toilet seat was broken and furniture was torn in her room.

4. The website promised a microwave and iron in the room. Reminder: We had formalwear to iron for this corporate event. There was no iron in the room or no microwave. Microwave was not a "big deal" but don't promise something that you will not be providing.

5. Air conditioner did not work when we got to the room and had to call maintenance, who took only a few minutes to come to the room, but had the A/C been working, the room would have been "cool" when we got there.

6. A lot of this stuff the hotel blamed on hotwire.com by using "well since you booked with hotwire you don't get...".

We paid $123.00 for one night in the room and the hotel claims we paid THEM $70.00. If I am doing my math correctly that means hotwire made $53.00 and we didn't get everything that was promised to us by the website? I understand hotwire is a profitable organization but $53 for a Referral?

I complained with Hotwire, but they refuse to remove the Holiday Inn from their Referral list (because it may scare other consumers) and they refuse to refund our purchase price for everything that we have been through. The stay at this one hotel, ruined our entire weekend.
