Will not reimburse for luggage lost basically told all further claims will be thrown away

My wife (fiance at the time) was flying into Altanta in October. This was her first trip to the USA. She removed her baggage and proceeded to customs. After she cleared customs she checked her baggage back in for the connector flight to Dothan, Alabama. This was the last time we ever seen one of her suitcases.

We filed a claim with ASA, in which the lady at the counter was rude rolled her eyes, etc but that i fine. So after months of nothing we finally get an answer it says she need to provide reciepts for any item over $200.00 USD nothing in the suitcase was worth more or cost more than 200.00USD (not by itself that is) But some of the items cost around 50 or more Euros (womens clothes ll) We returned the form and also stated no individual item was more than 200.00 but all the items together cost about or around 400.00. So a few more months went by then a few more. Finally, we were sent a letter stating since we provided no reciept for the item over 200.00 we are intitled to no reimburstment. I was amazed!

So I proceeded to write a letter to ASA (Atlantic Southeast Airlines) again stating that nothing was over 200 which was what the claim form stated and that all the items together were over 200.00 thinking they may be able to comprehend it this time. About a couple of months ago we recieved a letter stating we are sorry your rweimbursement for you lost items was not satisfactory (we didnt get reimbursed at all!)

So i wrote another letter stating we didnt get any reimbursement at all and we really wanted the luggage back which was a lot cause now. We then recieved another letter stating: You claim has been closed any atempts to contact this office will be file as such (meaning thrown away) we are sorry your are not satisfied with the reimbursement you recieved we strive to achieve customer satisfaction but cannot always achieve htis.

What in the world!?! Its like they dont even realize what or even read what I was writing they kept repeating sorry your not happy with your reimbursement we never got one at all! And all the items together were over two hundred! Who keeps reciepts for 20 and 40 dollar pairs of clothes for 3 or 4 years? Do I not have another option of recourse of than consider it a loss?
