Not a Good Place to Stay at Lake Cumberland, KY - garbage, no maid service, unfriendly

I have stayed at the Alligator Inn in Russell Springs, KY several times over that last couple of years and I have really enjoyed my stay at this small, clean hotel. However, I just came back from a fishing trip on Lake Cumberland on Tuesday, July 21 and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

First, when we arrived at the hotel at 4PM; there was still trash cans outside full of garbage that was overrunning on the sidewalk. The attracted bugs begin flying into our rooms as we were bringing our luggage in from our vehicles. Second, the refrigerator was unplugged and our food had to stay in the coolers until the refrigerator began to cool. Third, when we returned to our rooms after a long day on Lake Cumberland, we did not have clean towels, our beds were unmade, and our trash was still in the room. When I inquired with the onsite manager; she made a number of excuses why our rooms had not been attended by the maid service. Fourth, over the past several years; we had always been able to bring our pets to this hotel and they have changed this policy without notice. Fifth, one of the doors to the rooms that we rented would not lock. Finally, the lighting in the parking lot was turned off.

While this was once a very nice, clean, tidy, and pet friendly place to stay while boating at Lake Cumberland; under the new manager, the facility has become very undesirable. The new manager did not take reasonability for the condition of the hotel and only wanted to blame all of the problems on the old manager. Therefore, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until the conditions improve!
