Microtel Inn
Beware! Their Cancellation Policy Is Unfair!

Traveling & Tourism

I made an online reservation at this hotel a few weeks ago. My travel plans changed, and I was under the impression that I had up until 4:00 PM on the date of arrival to cancel. I called the 800 number, and they told me that the policy was that the reservation had to be cancelled by 4:00 PM one day prior!

The 800 number rep also told me that the local hotel could make an exception. They called the hotel, but they would not waive the cancellation fee of one night's charge. I called the hotel as well and was told that the 800 number rep told them that they could charge me!

I then called Microtel's customer service number. They contacted the hotel, and, again, the hotel refused to budge.

I checked my confirmation email. These Microtel folks are very slick! They don't mention their 24-hour cancellation policy.instead, they say, "If you need to cancel, you must do so by 4:00 PM local hotel time on November 18 or your credit card will be charged for one night's stay."

In summary, I've been ripped off! I'm crossing them off of my list, and I hope that you will do the same!
