Ramada Plaza Resorts - Ft. Lauderdale Vacations
Deceptive, high-pressure Sales practice, lied about accomodations and rentalcar, disreputable salespeople

I receive this gloriously detailed set of picture brochures in the mail stating that I was a 'selected' customer for this fabulously discounted vacation package with other extra vacations. Very appealing - on the surface.
I called the company and got a long scripted pitch on all the wonderful aspects of these vacations.
Then the real selling began.
I was dumb enough to buy in, not only to the $698 original cost but also to some of the extras, including $100 to extend the time I had to use the vacations.
So I figured I was set up for a nice time.
My daughter and I went down in Jan. 2007. We went to get a rental car from 'Continental' - never heard of it - more about that later.
We drove to the hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. WHAT A DUMP!!! Smelly, full of screaming kids, ratty rooms; the pits!
But th emost incredible thing was the lie they told us. They said that the hotel we had signed up for was on the water, but that that hotel wa damaged in hurricane Wilma (which had also damaged the beach so that we couldn't go there anyway).in fact, we had to drive 20 minutes to even get to the beach to take a look, and found that the beach was beautiful! And there were a lot of people sunning themselves and having a great time.
We hadn't brought our bathing suits, so all we could do was to walk on the beach feeling very ripped off.
The next day was the timeshare tour and presentation. You won't believe this one:
They offered a price of $29,000. I said no way; they immediately dropped it to $14,000; I said I don't want it; they dropped the price to $6,000. I said forget it. They dropped the price to $2,900, then $1,500. No kidding!!!
My daughter said we should get out of there. They said we had to stay and see the manager before left or we wouldn't get our cruise tickets.
So we saw him and he asked us how we liked the presentation... I said we wanted to go. He said he would make us a fabulous offer; just $444. I said give me the tickets! He got upset and said, 'Look I can sell you a time-share in Kissimmee for $50!! We then got the tickets and left.
What a f — g hassel.
Never seen anything like it, EXCEPT for the one we had to endure in Orlando! Deja vu all over again.
These things ruined our trip.
Then there was the rental car. We drove to the airport in plenty of time to catch our flight, but we couldn't find the dropoff for Continental. We asked and asked but no one knew where it was.
It was getting time for the flight, and finally we learned that the dropoff was 8 miles offsite! Holy Cow! We had to drive out there, turn in the car and wait for a bus to take us back to the airport.
We missed our flight and had to go standby on a flight 2 hours later. My son had to wait at the airport to pick us up.

I have traveled extensively on business and for pleasure in many countries.
This was the worst trip I have ever taken anywhere.
I am taking this time to warn you:
Please don't do business with Ramada Plaza Resorts, Empress Cruise Lines, Imperial Cruises or any of their affiliates.
You'll regret it.
