Refused to honor ticket, rude customer service, won't return emails or calls

I was flying from california to michigan with my 4 year old son. I bought my tickets 2 months in advance and they were mailed to me. Used america west for the first leg to Las Vegas, then arrived at the airtran counter. I had the paper ticket in my hand. The girl said she couldn't find it in the computer so I couldn't board. When I tried to show her the ticket she threw her hands up, stepped back, and said I needed to leave or she'd call security. I demanded to speak to a manager, the "manager" showed up and told me to go call the 800 number because I was holding up paying customers.

I spent 2 hours on the phone with the 800 number in the airport while taking care of my 4 year old. Finally, they hung up on me after telling me I was out of luck, and I went to the america west counter in tears, stranded in a strange city, with a child. The manager from america west looked at my ticket and said, "what do you mean they told you you don't have a ticket, it's right here." She walked back to the counter and demanded to see the manager. Suddenly, the "manager" I had talked to wasn't a manager but just an employee. My flight was boarding so I missed it. When I asked to be compensated in some way for having to spend the night in the airport with my son (because they wouldn't help me find a hotel) the girl rolled her eyes at me and said we don't do that.

Upon my arrival, I emailed airtran several times and called twice. I was put on hold and nobody ever got back to me or even sent me any type of email reply. Airtran is a piece of crap airline and I'd rather have a root canal than do business with them again.
