Consumer ripoff allowed in the USA

Doesn't it bother every consumer that Priceline.com is able to seal you into a contract that, if you are dissatisfied with the result, you are bound to and that you cannot receive a refund no matter what? How do they get away with it? NO other consumer business is afforded this luxury because the state laws protect the consumer from the exact issues that Priceline gets away with. And why is that?

I proceeded to purchase a vacation through Priceline in Myrtle Beach for a week for my family of five. I purchased the travel insurance to ensure that should anything happen that I would not be out the money. I pushed the button and the website froze. I was late for my class and had to leave for work.

Well, as life does happen; my employer changed the dates of my vacation within three hours of my purchase. Because I teach specific classes, the schedule could not be changed as I had students registered the second that my class was posted by my employer. I got home to find that my price was accepted. I checked out the dates and location to find that the location was not in the area the map indicated. I called Priceline only to find that they would not refund my money or change the dates. I called the travel insurancethey told me the same thing.

So please explain how every other business in the entire USA has to conform to consumer protection laws and Priceline does not? If I call up any company or if they call me, using my phone, according to PA, I have the right to change my mind within 48 hours of the agreement no matter whatmost states have this provisionso if I use my phone line to connect to the internet, how is that different?

Maybe Priceline should have to restate the authorization portion of the agreement. They should have us initial specific statements like: You understand that we will take your money even if you do not like the final booking due to location, date or price, or, The location of your vacation will most likely be booked in the location farther from and less costly or convenient location from the actual destination and area of your choice. And regarding the insurance: You understand that you will not be able to use this insurance unless you are in a car wreck, hospitalized, or deceased within minutes of your destination and over 200 miles away from home.
