I reserved a room at the Ashton Inn and Suites in Pensacola, FL. As is the usual procedure, I confirmed this reservation with a credit card. Due to a change of plans, I had to cancel this stay. I cancelled this stay 72 hours in advance, far more than the 24 hours required. I was charged for a nights stay. I called to have this resolved as soon as I received my credit card statement. I gave them the cancellation number, which they said they had on file, and they promised a prompt refund. Two months later, several phone calls, faxed credit card statements, and unfulfilled promises of resolutions, and I still have not been refunded. Furthermore, I have been called a liar and told that I must have fabricated the cancellation number.

Of course I kept copies of all correspondence, and have disputed the matter with my credit card company. I'm confident I'll have an outcome in my favor, but I'm livid that this facility has not only taken my personal credit information and charged me fraudulently, and then has insulted my character.

I might also add that the friends that DID stay there in July recieved terrible service. They were given keys to a dirty room, and when they went back to the front desk to get another room, no one was available. They spent the night in a room that still have food left in it from the previous occupants.

Pensacola is a popular scuba diving destination due to the recent scuttling of an aircraft carrier for recreational and technical diving. I encourage EVERYONE to avoid staying at the Ashton Inn and Suites. They are not only lacking in customer service, they are dishonest and rude.
