I've never won anything Ripoff Is this common practice?

Traveling & Tourism

On friday afternoon 3/10 my fiance and I received a phone message from someone named Paul saying "We have some realy great news for you folks ", "You've been selected" and "Don't hesitate to call". My curiosity was spiked, as I've never won anything. So with her encouragement I bit and called the number given in the message. I reached Jeffrey, who asked me if I was single, married or engaged, to wich I responded and then asked if we were between the ages of 28 and 75. He said he wasn't sure how they got our entries, i.E. Drop box, E-mail, however one of us was a garaunteed winner.

After Jeffrey did some searching, I was informed that it was My entry, not hers that had been selected. He then told me I would be taking home one of these five prizes garaunteed. A 2006 escolade, or a cash option of a $35,000. Cashiers check. One of two 7 or 10 day & night vacations to the Bahamahs or Hawaii, $2500. Cash or a flat screen Toshiba tv. He said this was a two day promotion at a new office they had opened in Tewksbury. We would have to be there at either 4: pm on sat. Or 3: pm on sun. For about 90 min. To pick witch one in their secondary drawing, via scratch ticket. Garaunteed one out of five prizes, with no purchase or obligation to us. He said to "leave your money at home". I would only be required to bring My other half (no children allowed) My confirmation # and two forms of ID each.

The second form had to be a major credit card. This sounded kind of fishy. I received a confirmation call on saturday morning from Rachel for our 3:00 sun. Apointment in Tewkesbury. She wanted to make sure I understood that I needed to bring a major credit card and not a bank debit card. I asked why the second form of id couldn, t be a passport or other form. She then got snippety and claimed that no c.C. Numbers would be taken, only the names on them for id. Verification. I repeated my question, to witch she replied "because these are their rules". I asked who are they. She said the company that they (she and her compatriots) made these calls for, Travel Inc. For whome she has no direct number. Am I being paranoid or is this standard prize claiming procedure?
