I would like to warn any travelers who plan on using Vacation Express; Transmeridian Airlines for travel services. My fiance and I planned a trip to Mexico through Vacation Express. The initial trip was a 4-day 3-night relaxing get-a-way. Which quickly turned into a nightmare...

My fiance arrived at the ticket counter on our scheduled day of departure and a Vacation Express representatative was not present at the ticket counter. The ticket counter had a sign on the counter that clearly states, "ticket counter closes 45 minutes prior to departure". My fiance arrived at the ticket counter 1 hour 10 mins (80 mins) prior to departure. Spoke to the ticket counter agent and according to her, staffing was limited and therefore agents proceeded to gate to start the boarding process. Long story short, we missed the flight (as did another couple) and was rebooked to depart the following day. Vaction Express did not compensate us for the day we loss; they also asked us to pay $100.00 rebooking fee on top of the $1500.00 we spent for the intitial cost of the trip. We paid because we didn't want to loose the money we initially paid for the trip. While waiting for the flight to depart the following day, I spoke to a passenger who stated that the same thing occured to a traveling companion (companion went to the ticket counter to find that a Vacation Express agent was not on duty) that happened with us the day before.

Obviously, what happened to us is a re-occuring problem. The next day we departed for Mexico on a connecting flight to Orlando (our initial flight was a direct flight to Mexico.) The flight (Transmeridian Airlines) from Orlando was delayed approximately 2 hours and our arrival to Mexico was 3:00 P.M. Transmeridian agents left the passengers guessing as to what time we would depart and never bothered updating us on what was happening. We were told that we were departing in 30 minutes and a hour later never received an update. When we went through Customs, claimed our luggage, transportation and check-in at the resort it was 4:45 P.M. Needless to say, we had already loss 1 1/2 day of our 4 day trip. We only had a 1 1/2 day for sightseeing and enjoying the remainder of the trip, as our schedlued departure was early morning our last day. Once we were settled at the resort, we spoke to a Vacation Representative who was not willing to compensate us for the day we loss.

The resort we stayed in was a 5-star resort and we have no coplaints regarding service from the staff. Our only complaint is with Vacation Express who was not willing to compensate us for the day we loss. After returning from the trip, we re-visited the issue and pursued compensation for the day we loss. The only response we received was a voucher for $100.00 per person to use for a future trip booked through Vacation Express. Which in my opinion is not adequate considering that we paid an additional $100.00 for re-booking fee.in actuality, they are only compensating a $100.00 to use THEIR services again.

After speaking to a Vacation Express representative, we were told that documentation showed that the ticket counter closed at the designated time (which we knew would happen after speaking to the representative who was working the ticket counter (kept constantly apologizing) and admitted being understaffed and stated the they closed the counter to proceed to gate to start the boarding process... We were not surprised at his response and knew that documentation was altered to reflect the time the ticket counter closed.) In addition to telling us that we were the only one who missed the flight, which is not true because we exchanged contact info with the other couple who missed the flight.

I'm sure that we are not the first and we will not be the last that this has happened to. We're just taking the time to warn others to prevent this from happening to you. Vacation Express does not value their customers and need to re-consider their value and commitment to their customers. Needless to say we will not use Vacation Express (or the sorry voucher) again and urge you to reconsider if you plan on booking a trip through Vacation Express.
