Ripoff, charged Gratuity without telling

When I made my reservation I was never told of any gratuity that wiould be charged. While at the New England Inn and Tuckerman's resteraunt we paid tips. Upon check out, there were gratuity for cleaning the room/s of over $100.

I of course spoke up about it and was told, "You will see a credit on your credit card", Guess What? No Credit and when I called the Inn was told by Carolyn that made my reservation that she has worked there 20 years and is sure she told me. If she had why would I leave tips? Surely do they think I am that grateful that they cleaned my room? (something I thought was included in the price or you leave a ittle something in an envelope,) not you pay them for appr. A whole nother night.

I have turned this into the State Attorney General as I do Not even Believe it's legal here in N.H. I will go on to say I have stayed there and eaten at that restaurant for every Birthday as long as I can remember But, will never go back!!
