Traveling & Tourism

We booked our trip after Hurricane Emily came thru Tulum Mexico so the knowledge of damage and closed areas and hotels were known. They sold us a complete package hotel, air, all inclusive and with hotel transportation for a package price (had no ideal individual amounts of each part of pkg.).

The guy that booked us with by the name of "Dan" supposely checked again directly with Freedom Paradise (the hotel in the package) while I was holding and no damage at all, everythings fine, so we booked. When we arrived @ the Cancun Airport with a 8 yrs. Old we found out that our hotel, Freedom Paradise, was not operational and not even open and might not be in near future at all so we had no hotel. We had no phone service to call Hotels.com until 3 days later to report this to them.

Best Day which was our hotel transportation found us the only hotel with availablity supposely and it was in Playa del carmen for $2100.00. We felt like we had to option except to sleep on the sidewalk at the airport or try to find a flight back home or get a cab and start stopping @ every hotel we could find. Hotels.com gave me a big big fight everyone I talked to refused to transfer me to mgr. Or supervisor said there were none!

I did finally get $1369.00 back out of the $2100.00 extra spent but I feel like I should receive the entire amount. This was FRAUD! For Godsake the hotel wasn't even operational or open and wouldn't be for sometime if ever! Is This Not Fraud? You tell me.
