My wife was talked in to buying a travel plan over the phone, needless to say I was not home and wasn't very happy about it. But how I got here is not the issue.
According to the company's website:
"Grand Vacation Getaways is a registered & bonded Florida seller of Travel (Reg # ST-32930). We introduce travelers to host resorts."
...
"Your reservation request will be processed, and written confirmation will be mailed back to you with directions to check in."
We reserved our request to travel about a month ago. We still have not recieved our directions to check in, in fact we don't even know where we are going.
I sent an email asking:
..."if you could email the address or phone numbers of the 2 destination hotels that we will be staying at so I can enquire as to the check-in/check-out times. Then I can schedual our flights accordingly for time, and closest airports."
And was answered by lisa gentry:
"that information has left this department and now is in the hands of the host resorts."
To which I replied:
" Sorry if I was unclear. I guess there was a misunderstanding. I know that you do not already have the information that the host resorts are going to send us.
What I was mainly looking for was the name of the host resorts so I can plan for our flights, and travel from the ariports to our destinations.
If you could send that soon it would be much appriciated as I would like to scheduale my flight soon before the rates, and avaliabilty, change."
She replied:
"Of course, we will send it as soon as we get it back from the resorts. Have fun!"
I replied to that but she didn't answer so I sent another one:
"I never recieved a reply from you but maybe my message didn't make it.
I was wondering which resorts your waiting on for information. I'm trying to book flights and travel from the airport to the resort and I'm not sure what to tell my travel agent. She needs to know where we are going to sheduale these for us. It's been 2 weeks since I asked where the host resorts are located. If you could plese get back to me it would be much appricated."
Her answer was:
"I suggest that you rent a car to get from the airport to the resorts."
This went on for a few more back and forth emails, always with her refusing to tell me where I'm allegedlly traveling too. Always another stall tactic. I have requested a refund due to no services being rendered. I have yet to recieve proof that I'm booked anywhere for a hotel stay. She expects me to book an expensive airfare to an island resort without any proof that I even am going to have a room there! Or where I'm even going for that matter!
I've tried to call them several times at all hours of the day but no one ever answers the phone. I'm begining to wonder if this is even a real company or address. This has all the warning signs of travel fraud.
I'm also sending a letter to the Florida Attorney General in hopes that the investiate this copmany. Companies like this really give the florida travel agencys a bad name. It deffentlly turns me off to the whole state when you hear about situations such as this.
I would never do business with anyone that would even asossiate with these people. Do not trust Grand Vacation Getawys, Inc.
