Traveling & Tourism

Myself and a friend were supposed to be on the two day cruise to the Bahamas.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that the staff, relayed false information to immigration we were denied access onto the ship. I spent that afternoon and the next day trying to establish what went wrong. As it turns out, immigration was told that I had an expired visa, and that I was heading to the Bahamas to join another ship. Where they got that information from I have no idea. While checking in I had to make a special trip to the immigration office and spoke directly to the officer that I was told to talk to. He looked at my documentation, which was correct and said that there is no reason I can not leave on the ship.

We then returned to the terminal to complete our check in. The staff then called immigration again and spoke to someone completely different who, when told the false information said that I could not leave. However, when I went into the same immigration office the next day, the officer took one look at my passport and my valid visas, and immediately said that there is no reason I should not have been allowed on the ship. I have been told that the staff at the cruise ship companies have all been trained and should know what to look for as far as immigration is concerned. Had they paid attention they would have seen that I did have the correct documentation. So from my side I had everything I was supposed to have and should have been on that cuise that I had payed for.
When I called Imperial Majesty back to get a refund or reschedule I was told that they are governed by the immigration services and that they did the right thing. If I still want to go on a cruise I have to get a letter from Immigration, which they do not do and
I was told by Imperial Majesty staff that I also have to pay another $75 pp and $25 administration fee. When I was trying to explain to their customer service representitive, that I do not understand why I should have to pay an extra $175 when it was not my fault in the first place, I was told that that is what it is and that is all they are prepared to do and then the lady put the phone down on me!!!

Please understand, it is not my intention to fight about this, it was supposed to be a relaxing two days which I was treating a friend to and it has turned into a nightmare. I have been on two cruises in the passed and do highly recommend them to many of my friends. I do not want this to be my final memory of what could be a truly fun experience. If I had done something wrong I would not object to paying any penalties, but honestly how would you feel if you did what you were supposed to do and was out of pocket $478! And many days of aggravation! If I include the $175 that would be $653 for two days! If I even get to go on the ship. That is more than the Admiral Suite! I find it disgusting that they can take your money and not even have the courtesy to call you back.
