United airlines said find a room and they'll refund me my money, my flight cancel because of a mechanical problem - united airlines

I took a flight the conformation is E9G0CR Anthony mccomb my flight was cancel out of Lax to Cle july 31 due to mechanical problems, I was told if found a room for the night that they would refund me my money back for the room.
