OpenRange Telecommunications
Bad Service!

Telecommunications

OpenRange offered me service with no contract and first 30 days free. Sounded great. The service really didn't work even 50% of the time during the first few weeks and they claimed it was a bad router (provided by them). They sent me a new router and mailing label for the old one. What they didn't tell me is that the new router involved a NEW account.

I mailed the old router back with their shipping label the day after receiving it. The new account was immediately charged the $39.95 fee plus anothe equipment charge for the old router they still claim they never received. I lost my "FREE" first month because they explained that was only for new customers not current customers. A woman named Debbie offered to credit that free month back from the initial router "once received" UPS tracking confimed the router was received by OpenRange who continues to deny this.

Since then they debited my bank account $20 every 2 weeks for a total of 8 times for the first router, charged my FIRST FREE MONTH TWICE for the first account then second account AND THEN to add insult to injury charged me $250 for the router they still claimed they never received. I verbally and in written form told them they are not authorized to debit from my bank account, provided the UPS proof, and asked for both accounts to be canceled. They said that could take up to 90 days and in total since July, I've been charged $510 for the non-working first router, $39.95 x 6 for 6 months of service even though the service never really worked (if you have Yahoo this will not work at all, something they claimed they were fixing), not to mention about $280 in banking fees because they used a debit card connected to a bank account they were not authorized to use that had no funds in it to cover the charges. 1

2 logged phone calls later I am out over a thousand dollars for a tremendous amount of stress and no internet service. I thought Comcast was bad but am happy to be back with them even with a contract. BEWARE! They are a huge scam!
