Failed to provide accurate diagnostic cause for motor failure at 90 hours upon dealer request

We purchased a 2003 Yamaha 150 HPDI outboard motor new and in the crate in 2007. Had motor installed on our boat by local dealer. Motor now has only 90 hours of operating time and has now failed while idling on the trailer during launch procedure. The 2 year factory warranty is out. After numerous dealer and manufacture testing, we have been given a diagnosis of either or both ECU and/or injector driver. Because these items come to a total cost of repair of $4,406.43 we requested our dealer to request a factory technician to further diagnose so that we could be assured of which item caused the problem; so to ensure that it would not occur again in the future.

To date we have been waiting for 6 weeks for said technician to appear. No luck so far. We and our dealer have been promised every week that he would be here. Our local deal has been very helpful and supportive in this process. Once again, the technician has promised to be here this week. We feel as though the least we could be given is an accurate explanation for the cause of what took what out and why. If it's a faulty design, we feel it is the responsibility of the manufacturer to repair or replace.

This motor was the last we thought we would have to buy and this motor has been treated like a baby. At the time of purchase we felt as though we had made the best choice. Surprise, Surprise. The part that really frustrates us is that the manufacturer has basically ignored us. There is no way a motor with 90 hours should go down as this motor has. BUYER BEWARE — Yamaha Hpdi not the way to go.
