Received damaged baseball bat after purchasing item online at CheapBats.com

I purchased a Mizuno Bamboo baseball bat online from CheapBats.com. I received it on-time but it was damaged (it had a dent on the head of the bat).

I sent an email complaint to customer service that was not answered. I decided to call and spoke to customer service. I informed them of the dent and the fact that the box it came in was not damaged, which meant that the company packaged the item already damaged.

I wanted to know what needed to be done to get an exchange. He said to return item in same box with order number displayed on outside. They would "inspect" the bat and decide whether to give me an exchange. I told him that IF THEY WOULD HAVE DONE THEIR JOB CORRECTLY, THE FIRST TIME, we would not be having this discussion.

I also asked him how would he be able to determine whether the damage was done there or here (in order to protect myself)? He said that he would look at it and make his best determination.

Then he informs me that if he decides that it was their error, he didn't have a replacement for that model bat. So, I would have to wait up to 3 weeks after he receives the bat (due to manufacturer delays).

In summary, if I send it and he determines that I damaged the bat, there will be no exchange, no refund and I would not be reimbursed for the shipping charges. Even if there is an exchange, I will not have a bat for about another month and baseball season is getting ready to start. This is a good reason why buying online sucks!!! First and last time i buy from cheapbats.com!!!
