American Van Lines never showed on move date n left half of our belongings in KY

On July 29th I was contacted by a man Named Joby from All star Movers after seaching for Movers on the internet. I found there link when i scearched Moving companies that work with the disabled. Joby imformed me that their company gave discounts to the disabled and that they work with a flat fee where most moving companies would charge me per lb.

After going over with him the things we had he quoted me $1600 for the move. I accepted that quote and told him i could pay the deposit he requested on aug 3rd when i got my disabily check. On aug 3rd i gave them $461.

We made the contract for a move Date of Sept 4th or 5th. On Aug 31st they called saying they forgot Monday was labor day they couldnt make it on the 4th but wold be there on the 5th. On sept 4th they called and said thier truck is behind and they couldnt get there until Friday sept 7th. I said are you really going to be here i am starting to wonder if i can trust you. He said yes we will be there.

Friday morning sept 7th my phone rings at 9:08 am the Gentleman says the truck is 5 mins away. I said ok great. An hour later my phone rings The gentleman says sorry but the truck cant be there until between 3-5pm. I explained to him that its a 4 hour drive to Indiana we have to be there by 4pm to get our keys before the office closes. He says sorry nothing i can do. My neighbor offered to go to the house and let the movers in when they arrived.

We waited all day I kept calling my neighbor are they there yet and she says No. I tried calling the moving company no answer. At 630 my phone ring a man says This is Rocco I am the truck drivers boss they cant find your house so i guided them to the house. They still didnt get there until 9pm Friday evening.

My neighbor calls and imforms me there is already stuff on the truck in the front and back and she says they are loading your stuff in the middle. At 12:30 i called the truck driver since i had his personal cell because i had to give direction and i ask where are u? He says we are still loading we will not be there until morning. I couldnt bellieve it we ended up sleeping on the floor. Please remember we are all disabled it was an awful night.

Sat morning Sept 8th my phone rings Rocco the manager says Sorry to tell you but we could only get half your belongings on the truck and you now owe us $2800 more I was like WHAT??? He says your belongings wieghed in at 6000 lbs. I said we have a flat rate contract and also how is that when u only have half of it. The only furniture we have is 4 mattress 1 bedframe 3 dressers 3 recliners and 3 end tables the rest was boxes and totes.

I informed Rocco i didnt have $2800 and he inform me they are going to keep my belongings and put them in storage and i will pay a daily fee until i have paid them off. I told Rocco We are disabled on disablity we have a set income every month I dont have that kind of money laying around I need my belongings you have our wheel chair on that truck. He says sorry nothing i can do.

I called All Star and told them what was happening. The rep says all u owe is $753 call rocco back and tell him. So i did. Rocco says Let me call them. Rocco then calls me back and says they understand now and u need to pay. I told him I am not paying that I said I guess its time to call a lawyer and the police Because i have paid what i was supposed to and your stealing my stuff. He says Let me call u back. It is now 5pm sat evening. He calls back and says the owner of all star says i have to deliever you stuff the truck will be there in 10 mins.

The truck didnt show until 9pm. They broke my grill they broke my storage cabinet and after goinf through what they did bring I have no clothes.

We ended up with stuff that belongs to someone so i am wondering what they have of ours. We now have to find some way to get the rest of our stuff. We cant rent a truck because I am the only one allowed to drive. My husband has had 4 strokes the last one affecting his eyes. My roommate has nueropathy and has little feeling in her legs so she is not allowed to drive. We dont know anyone else here.

I feel they broke the contract by not being there on the 4th or 5th. Then everything else they have put of through. Its just been a nightmare.
