Utility bill scam

The city of Battle Creek Michigan has a great scam going. They refuse to initiate a web pay system for utility bill payment so they can charge a 55.00 reconnect fee. Driver are NOT allowed to accept a check nor will they let you call and make phone payments. They then tell you that there is a reconnect fee to turn the water back on.

This practice nets them thousands in reconnect fees. They state that they are working on it, for the last 5-6 years. They won't give any information about what steps can be taken to voice opinions only that "we're working on it". The people who are really struggling to make ends meet are pushed even more in debt by their practices. There needs to be a class action law suit brought against them. What a scam and rip-off!
