MCI Worldcom Wireless... Can MCI really change the terms of a persons contract without notification or prior agreement?

I have been with MCI for a year and half and I had originally signed up for unlimited nights and weekends. For about a year and a few months, I always encountered problems with their delayed bills but decided to deal with it. After a year my contract was up and I still remained with them on a month to month basis which meant that my contract renewed itself each month and that the upside was that if i wanted out of my contract I would not have to pay the cancellation fee.

I still was not recieving bills on a monthly basis but in order to keep up my good credit I would call their account services and payed over the phone.in november - I had found out that they had changed the terms of my contract to 300 daytime minutes and only 500 nights and weekends and this had started in September (by the way the only way i came to know about this was when I was with them on the phone-i had never recieved prior notification or never agreed to this change - So i had been using my phone under my old terms).

I waited for my first bill which i recieved in December - which was for 4000. I immediately called up and spoke to a representative who told me that they changed my plan and probably not realizing I was on a month to month basis and that they my bill would be readjusted the following month. The next month I recieved the bill for october and my bill went up to 6000.

I have been fighting with them on a daily basis and everyone tells me a different story. I finally spoke to a supervisor and he said that MCI holds the right to change promotions. He also said he would adjust it to only 1500 minutes for nights and weekends-but i will still be paying in the thousands. This is absurd-I cannot believe that any of this is legal.

And if they do have the right to change promotions-does that go for a person that has a month to month contract with you and is not binded to you for 12 months. Please respond and tell me how to handle this problem
