The bottom line, ARS was selling us a $13,000.00 unit for a rental property that is only 1900 square feet in living space.

First, the technician was late for 45 minutes who showed up rudely without an apology for being so late. Second, he determined that parts were needed to be installed before he can run the compressor and then should be able to diagnose the problem. These 2 parts cost us $680.00 plus the service fee of $69.50 (usually waived), a total of $749.50. He had to be paid first before he can get started. We paid the total amount and then he proceeded with his job.

Unfortunately, the air conditioner still did not put out cold air. Ultimately, a new unit costing $13,000.00 with discount and the $749.50 credit from what was previously taken from us was his best recommendation. I hit the ceiling and terminated the work. The technician was in our property for almost 5 hours into the night.

Because we love our tenants and we wanted to uphold the agreement, we brought in another company the following day. We were shocked to hear that the guy yesterday didn't need to install unecessary parts just to figure out that the unit is completely dry of freon. The new technician basically gave us 4 options. They are honest and we arrived to a comfortable decision. We decided to install a new unit which will last for 20 years. Not only that this new unit is energy efficient, it is reasonable at $4,411.00, not a $13,000.00, a price of a small car.

About a week ago, a refund of $680.00 finally hit our bank account and weagreed to pay for the service fee.
