Ripoff! Rasied rates despite promise!

When I moved to a new apartment I decided to get Mediacom's high speed internet and cable package. I signed up for what I thought was a good deal, both cable and internet for $53.09 a month. It did sound a little too good to be true so I asked the representative on the phone if this was a "half-price promotion" for new customers, and if after a few months I'd no longer get this deal. She told me that it wasn't a promotion, that it was a standard package and that I'd continue to get the same rate.

Things went well the first few months I was getting a resonable bill, until last week when I opened my bill and they wanted almost $120.00!!!

I had paid my bill the month before, so I knew it couldn't have been a bill for two months service. And indeed when I read the fine print and charges I was only being billed for one month.

After trying and trying and trying over a serries of days on my lunch break to get through to a representative, I was finally connected to one who spoke very poor english. He told me that no it was indeed a promotion and that I had to pay the $120.00.

Mediacom has no local number, and it takes over an hour on hold to get through to a representative in a call center (I'm assuming) is overseas.

I went back through all of my paperwork and found nothing that said that I was getting a promotional deal.

I think that what Mediacom is doing is wrong, and I intend to continue sending in my $53.09 until I can find out what's going on.
