I placed an order yesterday at Toys R Us on line. I received an email during the night that all items were back ordered. I immediately went on line to cancel the order and received a message that it was not possible to cancel. I called customer service, to ask if they could confirm delivery by Christmas (order placed on Dec 4). She said no and also informed me it could not be cancelled until I spoke to a supervisor. I was advised no supervisor would be available for 24-48 hours. So, I have to wait for 24-48 hours to find out if they can cancel my order for products they do not have in stock (but allowed me to purchase anyway online). Then if they do agree to cancel them, I have to wait 3-5 days for the money they have on hold for the transaction to be removed from my credit card. This to me seems like a scam. If Toys R Us knows they do not have the products, they should not offer them on line. If they get "sold out" during the transaction time, they should be required to give the consumer to choice to immediately cancel the order or not. Clearly we order the items because we want them and Toys R Us is not the only provider out there. This is an abuse of consumer rights. If you dont have the product, you should immediately allow cancellation and liberation of the pre transaction funds hold! I am very displeased by the lack of customer service as they offered no options nor flexibility. I would not purchase from toys r us again.
