Ripoff won't co-operate when their equipment fails

On 6/05/02, I purchased the 2-phone package for $29.95. A Nokia for $29.95, with a Kryocera as a freebie. There was a charge of $20.00 per month for the Nokia phone calling program. Then on the freebie phone, I was charged $35.00 per month, for all the same program on it. Fine...$55.00 a month for 2 phones was a good deal!

Then within the 1st 30 days, the Nokia slam died. No problem, Radio Shack replaced it, no hassle! Within a couple weeks, I took the new Nokia with me, to pick up a truck for a local dealership. I got in a rain storm, & the phone drew dampness inside the truck, & it died, too! Now, Radio Shack refused to replace this one, because of water damage. I can see this! Oh, well, we still have one phone left, & it's a freebie, anyway.

Now... How come I have to pay $20.00 a month for a phone, that's layin' in the box, useless? Because I signed a 2-year lease on both phones... Right! I fail to see that on any lines in the contract. If I want to change the contract to 1 phone... Then I need to pay a $175.00 termination fee, & another $150.00 installation fee on the freebie phone!

In a couple months, I'll have these phones for 2 years, & feel that Verizon Wireless owes me all back charges levied on the Nokia phone. If I could afford an attorney, I'd have them brough up on fraudulant practices charges... As I see from this site, it hasn't done anybody else any good, either! I'm sending a copy of this report to the Ohio Attorney General, & the Better Business Bureau in my City.
