Con Edison Power Move is a Scam! You do not really HAVE to move! And it will not save you money

ConEdison and Energy Plus has been prompting me to switch energy suppliers for many months. I have received emails and phone calls, have read about it on bills, and it has been featured on their website. Because I lost my job and having a lot of trouble paying bills on only Unemployment, I was afraid that if I didn't pick a supplier soon, that ConEdison was going to do it for me and they would pick the most expensive one.

So when I was offered a 7% decrease on my bills and I was already behind and being threatened for shut-offs, I felt I really had no choice but to lower my bill. Today I open by bill to see that my usual less than $100 bill now has current charges of $441.23. Because I was out of state on a job interview, I am just now getting this and see they are doing a new meter reading in only less than 2 weeks, which means the next bill will be even worse because we hit record highs in heat all month.

I called ConEdison and their phone system is sending me in loops. It will not allow me to talk to anyone, to remain on hold for the advertised 27 minutes, or to use their express system where someone will call you back. It keeps starting over no matter what option I select.

Did I mention my bill says "STOP, THIS IS A FINAL TURN-OFF NOTICE."? Last couple of month's bills were so high that I could only pay partially on each of them, and that was WITH the discount. (the discount I forgot about.)
