Unwilling to Exchange, Prohibitive Exchange Policy, based in

I was given a bracelet as a gift that was lovely but not my taste. The bracelet was purchased at Ross & Simons (online). I wanted to exchange the bracelet for one I had chosen which was exactly the same price. Ross & Simons insisted I produce a sales receipt before they would consider the exchange; despite that I have the original box and was able to locate the bracelet on their website. The problem is that I did not want the gift giver to know I was exchanging the gift. I was more than willing to bring the bracelet to a RS store so they could inspect it (and its original box). After no less than six e-mail exchanges I gave up. I refuse to hurt the feelings of the gift giver because the store he chose does not believe in reasonable customer service. Now I own a bracelet I cannot wear because of this prohibitive exchange policy.
