Relentless billing for non existent services! Cue card reciting technical support and "boiler room" customer service reps

I signed on with Vonage through a referral of my cousin. The initial order was in September. They processed the order instantly even after answering with an enthusiastic "yes" to any and every question I had about the specifics of the service.

One question in particular that was glazed over by the so called technical support rep was on the subject of Static vs. Dynamic IP addresses. The tech gave me his pre-canned answer from his cheat sheet and assured me that everything would work out fine. I signed on for service and a phone number transfer.

When I received the Broadband equipment It did not work with my configuration as I had suspected and had asked the rep BEFORE signing up for service. 1 month went by with unanswered requests to Vonage. They created ticket after ticket and sent numerous emails stating that they received my request. Each clueless rep I spoke with answered the phone then entered a conversation all to them selves, following their scripts to the T not hearing one single word I said. Their training must prompt them to transfer to managers when faced with questions that do not require cue cards to answer. I spoke with managers who's main directive was to keep customers clamped down and billing at all cost, these people were straight out of the movie "boiler room" They provided no help at all and said they would "get back to me" and ofcourse never did. But the Bills kept on marching in, punctual as ever for months and months. Not one ph call being place through vonage, the service was not even up and running. They kept on billing and billing.

3 more months go by with no avail, fast forward to February. With the monthly charges stacking up and my patience worn out, I war-dial Vonage to get some answers. Same clueless reps, same callus managers and no dial tone.

They did send me an email eventually. They informed me that my number transfer had "failed" 6 months after the original order. When I asked about a refund of my money, the rep read her lines: "sir you can return the equipment for 41 dollar refund" Ok, great, but what about refunding my money for the 6 months you billed me and provided no service? Her response?"Yes sir you can return the equipment for 41 dollar refund minus the re stocking fees"

How Vonage expects to gain a sizable lead in the soon to be fiercely competitive voice over IP market is anybodies guess. Vonage acts as if they are immune to backlash from upset customers that they have ripped off. I hope this report helps. If you are reading this, take your money somewhere else! There are many many other providers.
