Real Estate Scam/Rip Off

Shops, Products, Services

Approximately 4 years ago I made a private money loan to Ron Schwartz (with Remax as well as operating independently as a realestate investor at the time) for a real estate investment. I got good interest on the loan for a few months then nothing. Subsequently, he told me the property went into foreclosure and I would get nothing from my investment. I lost a considerable sum. A friend of mine who turned me on to the investment also lost a great deal of money in the deal.
At one point after the collapse, Ron's lawyer called to get some information.in the course of the conversation he told me that the "numbers never did make sense." Apparently the numbers Ron and I discussed prior to my investing were not the same numbers the lawyer was looking at, so I have to believe that Ron showed me some bogus numbers.
While Ron promised to repay me, I haven't seen a dime - although he's living in Crystal Ranch and seems to be doing ok. Since this investment went belly-up I have had to declare bankruptcy and am loosing my home as a result. I'm looking forward to possibly living in my car.
I just want to forewarn others about this person - whom I and my friend thought was an honest man.
Do you think it was a scam?
