Just got off the phone to a very rude "customer" representative. I sent my payment thru online bill pay at my bank on 03/04/10. Today is 03/25/10 and that payment has yet to clear my bank although I do have a confirmation and check number from my bank that it was sent on 03/04/10. She said I needed to send last months amount and the new amount or my water would be disconnected. I told her I would not send the amount that was outstanding because I have confirmation that it was sent. She sounded sorta gleeful when she told me my water would be disconnected on the 30th if I did not pay it. She said my bank probably put in the wrong account number and I replied that maybe your accounting department put in the wrong account number. She said they have no way to research it this close to the cutoff date! Pay the entire balance or your water will be cut off. 5 days is not enough time!!! Wow... incompetent. They do not make it easy to pay your bill and they like it that way so they can charge 10% of your bill as a late payment. This is not the first time I have gotten rude customer service. At one time, I got a bill for $200 plus, I don't remember the exact amount, but I called to question it and the customer rep. Told me she didn't see anything wrong with it, pay it or I would be disconnected. I paid it. I have NEVER encountered such rude customer service. I have the rude ladies name, but I don't see the need to post it here. All of my neighbors have complained about them as well, I would like to see something done about their billing practices! They have been sued in the UK due to their corrupt system, maybe something like that could happen here.
