Rip off poor communication extremely bad customer service lubbock

I called Cingular in June to find out when my contract ended so I could cancel. I was told, July, and that is agreeable.

I then asked how do I cancel my contract. I was told all I had to do was call back on a specific date (30 days before contract end) and tell them I want to cancel. I was then asked/told, would you like to pay your bill thru the end of your contract and then all you will have to pay is the taxes and directory asst. Calls, so forth, since you are billed one month in advance for basic service you won't have a huge final bill?" So I did, and then I called them back on specific date agreed to so I could cancel.

On that day I was told, "no you have to cancel in writing". I replied, "I wasn't told that by your rep.; I was told all I had to do was call." Then I was told 'no' again and they acted as if I were nuts! So I hung up and called back and the next rep I explained what had happened. The rep then told me "yes, just send me a fax on company letterhead and I will set it up to cancel".

Did that happen, I sent the fax... Did they cancel NO, and July they didn't cancel and when I got a basic bill for $88 in August I called them and complained, and I screamed, cancel my phone. I was told the charges were for (supposedly what I had been told I had just paid for in June). We haven't used the phone (s) since June!

What a rip-off. Now they've turned me over to a collection agency which sends to me an $88 bill; yet Cigular keeps billing me for $66. How much more confusing... Cingular said it is the collections agency's fee on top of the $66. What insainity.

There notes don't agree completely with what I have said. You can't depend on ANY of these cell phone services to make accurate notes. You should have all your conversations taped for your own self-protection. Cingular: eat cheese and die!
