Quoted my montly cost and then billed for more

DirectTV quoted me a monthly cost of $49.99 for the service that I wanted. After receiving my service and the first bill, my quote had been understated by $40.00. When I called to question them, they admitted they made a mistake and that they would fix the error. When I went to pay the bill on their website, nothing had been changed. This time when I called them, they basically told me that I was crazy and they would have never quoted me that cost. When I told them to cancel the service, they then stated that I would owe an early termination fee according to their contract. I then told them that I never signed a contract, and they told me that it was verbal. I stated that the $49.99 was verbal as well, and since that meant nothing to them, then the verbal contarct menat nothing to me.
Since then, we have sent letters back and forth, with them threating me and me telling them that I'm not paying, with it finally coming down to telling me that I can't ever have service with them until the debt is paid.
There are other providers out there, so I don't really care. I am with a reputable company that treats their customers the way they should be treated, with honesty! I'm sure that DirectTV has happy customers, but I will never be one!
Anyway, we all have choices, and I made mine to not be part of DirectTV. Who is really being punished here anyway, I have great television, I am with a provider who offers excellent customer service, and DirectTV is losing revenue by not having me as a customer. But then again, my little $100.00 a month is nothing to them, but how may of me are out there...
