Sent package with ups April 10 overnight to customer in Colorado, I sent a brand new dell laptop valued at $2200 but insured it for the selling price of $1500. Several hours after I shipped the package I discovered that my customer was using fraudulent funds for our transaction and propmtly called ups at 5 AM on April 11 to inform them of the situation. I spoke with the station manager in the location where the package was in Colorado, and she had the package in hand, and told me my package would be shipped back to me.

I tracked the package via ups.com and saw that after I contacted them they still attempted to deliver the package at 1 PM, which was refused by the unknowing resident (the address provided was a scam too).

But it didn't stop there, they took my package back to there office in Glenwood springs, Colorado. Then at around 8 PM the scam artist was allowed to walk into UPS's office and pick up the package without showing any I.D. (smelled like an inside job!!!) This was amazing to me after I specifically told the management of that location the whole situation, and was very clear about not releasing that package to anyone but me!!!

Now they refuse to pay my insurance claim, and told me that it was basically my fault, all they wanted to talk about was the fraud part of the situation, and said I should have done a more thorough investigation prior to shipping, I feel that that part should be irrelevant when I contacted them before the package even landed in Colorado. I was also told by managers that they don't ask for I.D. When a receiver walks into a shipping center. That sounds like crap to me. They also stated that the word "fraud" voids all insurance claims, even when I contacted them while my package was still in the air, they claim that the can't guarantee any rerouting of packages because of there system. That seems a little hard to beleive if they are the premier shipper worldwide. What if they got a tip that a package contained something deadly of toxic, they would deliver it anyway???

I did't get any cooperation from them until I hired a lawyer, so now I am going throught the claim process for the third time and feel I am just being strung along again. They cannot be trusted, they will gladly charge you for insurance, but will drag you through hell to complete a claim and will use every excuse in the book to deny the claim.
