Fire or consider firing this firm and you're in for a ride! Especially if you have a retainer balance remaining with them. Sure they're nice in the beginning because they need to take your money to get them more money in return by racking up ridiculous fees/hours for sending out letters to your creditors.

If by unfortunate chance you get a judgment, arbitration or lawsuit with one of your creditors: BEWARE! The firm will transfer your case to a different attorney that actually will earn his pay. They WILL NOT handle lawsuits or judgments of any kind that deals with your creditors. So keep this in mind when handing that retainer fee for lawyer service, because you WILL NOT get any. They defer your case to a competent attorney that actually does the job.

Mr. Hinsley DOES NOT handle any of the lawsuits that heads your way. He may say he does, but what the firm actually does is duck and hide from them. Again, you are better off going to a different attorney that will work with you and the creditors if you are not willing to file for bankruptcy. My dumbest moment was actually calling a yard sign that had "consumersdefense" and their phone number listed. Please, get a proper referral through friends, an attorney referral system or come to usacomplaints.com to look up any complaints on an attorney you might be hiring.

If you are thinking of firing this firm, beware. I made that mistake with over $2000 of MY money left in a retainer only to get duped into having a "status meeting" set up with Mr. Hinsley. Meetings with him is like sitting through a lecture of "I went to law school... Da... Da... Da" and more of "I am underbilling you by..." or "My services are too high for what I am actually charging you..." He will give you the runaround before he presents you with a last minute "invoice" of services supposedly rendered. Before you know it, the retainer balance of over $2000 was magically ZEROED out for services priorly billed and for "phone calls" I made to the firm as well as his time of $300 for a typed letter from his staff with his signature.

At this point when his firm knows when you want to fire them, they will turn on you. His paralegal is the worst, she will belittle you and give you the runaround when you want to see your file or even ask anything associated with it. Before firing this firm, be smart. Ask to talk to someone in accounting and get the copy of your last/latest invoice from them. That way, you have proof that nothing was ever billed from the time of the last invoice to to time you fire them. If you have money left on your retainer, make a copy of that invoice and a letter stating you want to fire their firm and send it via certified mail. You are doing your part to cover the lies they will give you later. DO NOT ask to have a status meeting. Clearly state in your letter that you want your balance/check mailed as soon as possible. If they do not mail you a check back and send you a bogus invoice... Then do the steps necessary to file all legale vices to recover YOUR money.
