Communications ripoff -overcharged my mother who is 72 years old on her cell phone. Charging her for reconnection fees when her bill was mailed on time

If you are elderly, please be aware... My mother who is 72 got a cell phone with just the basics last june when my father became terminal. I live one hour from my mother. When my father would have to to the hospital in the middle of the night or whatever she would call me when she got to the hospital on her cell. This worked out good. If she was not home when I called, I would call her cell phone and most of the time they would be at the hospital or on the way. He died in October.

My mother has not used her cell phone much since, in the last few months she has not used it at all. She did not want to disconnect her service because they would keep her deposit, which is alot if you are on a fixed income and 72 years old. We just got her bill and they charged her for re-connection fee ($35.00) plus monthly bill.

She did not even know it was disconnected because she doesn't use it. Also, her bills are always done the first on the month on time. She was told that she would only be charged 10 cents for any time she went over, NOTE, they charge her 40 cents... That is twice as much as anyone else charges.

Bill twice a month??? One for the first of the month and again at the end of the month!!!

Think twice or more about getting a cell phone from Alltell...

I would like to have help getting her deposit back and forget the cell phone.

Her local Alltell Rep was no help at all, my mother could not even understand her over the phone because she didn't talk clear enough...
