50 States Van Lines lies to get your business, doesn't keep their promises, inflates your charges, takes FOREVER to deliver and breaks, misplaces and/or steals your items. Beware! Do not use them

In late August I got an estimate for 50 States Van Lines to move my things from Califonia to New Hampshire. They told me it would be a full service move, had me itemize and measure what was there and took my credit card as a deposit. I was to pay half at pickup and half on delivery. They started out by being two days late since their workers got lost and in an accident on the way to my house. This caused me to be two days late moving out after escrow had closed. I had to pay someone to stay there as I already had airline tickets that could not be cancelled. It also made it impossible for me to be present for the move.

When they finally did show up, the costs doubled and they made an unauthorized charge for MORE than the full amount that we had originally agreed to. Next, I called to make arrangements for delivery to my new home. I called and they said they would have my things here by Saturday, September 26th. They then called it and changed it to Monday. They called Monday afternoon, and once again put me off until Wednesday or Thursday as they were stuck in another state. They finally showed up yesterday, which was October 6th, 11 days late. It was not even the same company as they had subcontracted, which they had assured me in the beginning that they did not do.

MANY of my items were missing and destroyed. The most upsetting is a painting from 1896 that belonged to my husband's great, great grandmother. I am also missing: a large Honda generator, two lawnmowers, 2 antique tables and two end tables, though I have not completely unpacked yet, so there could be more. I have several items broken including an early 19th century table and an 18th century shaker, wagon wheel bench, as well as my daughter's victorian dollhouse and some shelves.

I got a signed statement from the mover's that actually delivered
my things about the missing and damaged items.

I would like my missing things located and would like to be compensated for the damages and overcharges.

This had been a horrible and upsetting experience and I caution other consumers to NOT deal with this company.
