Ripped off $1000 via credit card charge for deposit and never returned!

We rented a vacation home Aug. 6-9 in South Lake Tahoe through Premier Tahoe Vacations, owned and operated by Shara Stamler. The contract stated in addition to the rental fee, a $1000 deposit would be authorized on your credit card and as long as there are no damages the authorization will be canceled after check out. We left the house in excellent condition and she even left me a voice mail saying "thank you for taking such good care of the home".
On Aug. 26th I emailed Shara stating that I had not been refunded the $1000 deposit that she charged to my credit card. Note: this should never have been charged, only authorized. No response, so I emailed again on Sep. 1st (now 23 days after check out). She responded with this email: "I'm sorry I was out of town and just returned. I will look into this immediately and get it resolved for you by the end of the day." I sent another email on Sep. 3rd after leaving several voice mails as well. No response.
It's now been 34 days since check out and I have not heard from her since Sep. 1 when she said she would get it resolved by the end of the day.
She has no manager or supervisor and is obviously the sole owner and operator of this property management company.
I finally filed a dispute with my VISA and they credited me the $1000. But now it's in their hands to try to get the money back from her. It's taken hours of my time trying to get my money back and has been increasingly frustrating that she has not responded. I know she has an iPhone so is able to receive all of my emails and voice mails.
I have subsequently filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I just want to get the word out to people considering her service to beware of inappropriate practices and contractual breaching.
