Deliberately lies to senior citizens to get their business

Let me start off by saying that I am a senior citizen on a fixed income.

I singed up for uverse and after paying a deposit and waiting 2 weeks, i found out the day before the scheduled install, when i called to confirm the time, that it was not going to be installed. I was then told that I was not available in my area, it was available but only with more of a deposit, and that i was available but my credit kept me from getting it. I was then contacted by someone from att and told it was not available in my area and a few days later received a letter stating that I was required to pay more money in deposits to get uverse.

All that aside I signed up for dsl and unlimited phone service for 72. Xx a month and now I am being charged 26. Xx over and told if I don't like it to take my business elsewhere. I have even been told that I was reading my bill wrong when I asked about uverse charges on my bill. ATT told me some of the charges are for "free" equipment, and it was disclosed in the fine print. When asked for this information, I was denied. I will gladly retract all I have said if I receive this info and find it to clearly state that what ATT told me is true. Until then it seems that ATT, in my opinion, is more then willing lie to perspective customers, including thos of us on a fixed income, to increase their revenue. This complaint is only about their sales tactics and customer service. They do have reliable service and had they been upfront with me about the price I would have chosen them anyway. I just feel that if they feel the need to lie to get customers then they should be forced to honor the prices they quote. Sorry about rambling on but I have just gotten off the phone with ATT and I am highly upset.
