Charges to Account

I have two mortgages, one with CountryWide, the other with HSBC. I do all my bill pay on line; Well a few weeks ago I accidently made my large payment to HSBC which in fact should have gone to CountryWide. I contacted both parties and HSBC agreed to refund the payment and without informing me; charged my back account $12.50 for a transfer fee. They don't charge you a fee to receive it. So why charge to return it. Plus you cannot get your account number over the phone with these people. Speaking with HSBC and trying to get anything accomplished is like having sex with a an alligator.
