Receiving Threatening Phone Calls From Collection Agency For Something I Didn't Purchase

I received a call from someone at Takahr Collection Services stating they were a collection agency and I owed them $158.84 for an account that was turned over to them from BMG Music. The address that they have for me is the address of a friend of mine in Tennesee. I live in Ohio.

I explained to them that I have never ordered from BMG and they must have the wrong person but they insisted they have the right person. Since the address that they have listed is the address of my friend, I thought that maybe my friend ordered something in my name. I called my friend and she denied it.

I asked the person at Tahkar Collection Services to provide me with a ddocument that I signed to prove that I accepted responsibility for these charges and they said they could not provide that information because the transaction was done online.

I called my local police department and they told me that I could file a report if I had a bill or something as proof that I am being billed for something that is not mine. When Takhar Collection Services called me back again that night, I asked them for a bill stating that I owe this amount. They told me that they would fax it to me. No fax came.

They called me again the next morning and I asked them for the contact information for BMG so I could call them directly but they said they didn't have a phone number or address for BMG. I asked to speak to a manager and a woman answered the phone and said her name is "Amber". She did finally fax me a bill that does state that I owe $158.84 but the name on the account was only listed as my middle name (spelled wrong) and my last name. They did not have my real legal name.

They did also give me an account number that is supposedly my BMG account number and I went on BMG's website to look up my account but the account number does not exist. Go figure.

I have looked up the contact information for BMG Music so I can call them but the only way to contact them is by e-mail. I did send them an e-mail. Their website states that someone will contact me back within 2 days. We'll see.

All in all, Takhar Collection Services calles me numerous times per day but they will never give me their name and they are very hard to understand. They can never give me any information or help me get to the bottom of this. They did give me their web address (www.takhargroup.com) and they gave me an account number and said I could get more information if I enter my account number on their website but when I go to their website, there is no place to look up any information.
