Dishonest Dealings and Outright Lying

With prices dropping in the current market my wife and I realized we could save allot of money. We were not ready to buy, fearing the economy might dip even lower. We decided to to look into a new home rental.

After placing an ad in a local venue (Name With held), we received many answers/replies. One on behalf of Mori Zahiri by his wife and partner Terri Mendoza. They offered a rental at a rate of $1300 per month? We thanked them but kindly declined, feeling in this market we could do better.

We re-issued our ad, but added that we were interested in paying no more then, $1100.00 per month! We were immediately contacted again by Terri Mendoza. Her Comment; "I can do $1100! Would you come see the house?".

Which we did the following Saturday. It was very nice, we agreed on the $ and we gave Terri a deposit of $1100, a month's rent, as gesture of goodwill. Even though she wasn't finished remodeling. We agreed that we would move in on 14Feb. Terri said she would contact us in a couple of days to sign a lease. She hugged us both? (Which we thought was a little strange) Gave us Mori's card and we parted ways.

We didn't hear from her for over a week? After numerous calls and emails, she finally got back to us? She said she could get more for the property and would we consider paying more? (Knew the hug was a sham!) Again we said no thank you, please just give us our money back... She got upset and said she felt horrible. Terri, said she would honor her word for $1100. Oo, if we would come sign a lease at the property the following Saturday? Which we agreed to do.

However she soon rescheduled to Sunday at 9:30? You guessed again she didn't show and wouldn't answer her phone after numerous messages. Finally my wife called and said she was done. She was leaving the property and please just return our check.

Now well past ten, she called my wife back crying about a big fight She had with Mori. He won't let her accept less then $1250.00, and has added a bunch of fee's that she didn't mention before.

We are paying more then that now, but that was not the agreed upon price. So ethically we could never accept that deal. These people are not to be trusted, and do not honor their word. They dragged us through this mess at a critical time in our search for a new rental home. They wasted 3 weeks of or time and have locked up $1100.00 of our funds, that I have yet to see returned.
