Residental Service Left us hanging... Again Tigard - Oregon

I'm sick of Phone, Cable, and Internet "service" providers not actually providing any service!!! I am supposed to be working from home, but I require an internet connection in order to make this feasible. After over a year of inconsistent connectivity with our Verizon DSL service we finally gave in and scheduled a FIOS install. Today, after another two weeks of waiting, we should have had FIOS up and running, but Verizon couldn't get their act together and schedule the proper personnel to lay the required cables. They called to verify our install and never once asked about or confirmed the need to have guys digging in our yard ahead of the scheduled install date.

They had similar scheduling problems when we first moved in to this house and ordered DSL. We were without internet for almost two weeks even though we had placed our order 6 weeks in advance of our move and there wasn't even any cable or line to install, we just needed a modem!

Our phone service has also been spotty and we often don't get our voice mail messages until two or three days after they were left. Every time I call to change our 'package' I ask for the same list of features and have yet to actually get all of the features I ask for at the same time. These are all small inconveniences and since we don't get a choice of phone service providers and I don't have 1-2 hours to wait on hold every time something happens we look the other way, but now I've had enough!

Verizon has already disconnected our DSL service and refuses to reconnect it while we wait for their guys to come dig a trench in our yard. (To his credit the tech that showed up at our door this morning did offer to run a cable above ground, stringing it through our front yard and along the roof of our garage. However, with kids and dogs running amok every afternoon it's not a great idea to have exposed cable lying around!)

My husband spent an hour on the phone with customer service talking to five (5) different people trying to find out what our actual expected installation date will be and the only piece of information he was able to get was that they were backed up because of all the snow issues we've had in this area (The snow was gone before we even placed our order for FIOS!). They showed absolutely no sympathy for the fact that we tried to show some courtsey for their employees and kenneled our big dog so the installation techs wouldn't have to deal with a barking growling dog all day. Now we're out the money for the kennel and we don't even have any type of internet connection to show for it!

I wish we had a choice of phone providers. That way maybe these companies would have to actually provide some level of customer service. I would gladly spend my hard earned money with someone else given the choice.
