On November 20th we entered into a written contract for moving services with MC Movers. For a total cost of $1000 we reserved three men and a 26' truck through this company. They asked for, and we gave them, a $500 cash deposit to hold this date. We were told they would be at our apartment by 10 am on the 29th. They failed to show on the 29th, and we called them every thirty minutes and left messages on the voicemail. We received a phone call several hours later (about 2pm) informing us that their truck had broken down. We were offered the possibility of a smaller truck (14') in a few hours, which never arrived. After multiple emails and unanswered phone calls, we did finally get an email at MIDNIGHT informing us that if an appropriately sized rental truck could be located the next day, they would come to our apartment and move us, but it wouldn't be til the afternoon. The other option they gave us was to wait until Monday the 1st, at which point they would be able to secure a larger truck. We told them that Monday was too late, we had to be vacated by the 1st of the month, and we HAD to move the next day. We took it upon ourselves to reserve a rental truck, and after hours of unanswered phone calls on Sunday the 30th were forced to cancel the rental and secure a second moving company at an "emergency move" price for the 1st. We contacted MC Movers at the office and cell number to leave a message concerning the return of our deposit, as well as numerous emails. No answer to anything, and the last messages were prerecorded "the mailbox is full" type. Emails come back with an automated message, as well. The only communication we have had with them since that date is one answered email informing us that our refund would be sent to us "within 30 business days." No apology, no explanation. No one answers the phone, or any suceeding emails we have sent. As of this date, we still do not have our deposit.

As a result of this, we incurred extra cost for a moving company ($700) a penalty for not vacating our apartment by the first ($750) we had to sleep on the floor in our new home, we had to send our children to stay with relatives as we had no beds to put them in, and we were left with the uncertainty of if and when we were going to be able to enjoy our new home. Not to mention the fact that that extra money would come in very handy so close to Christmas in a new home with three small kids! This company took what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of our life (buying our FIRST home) and turned it into a nightmare.
