Rip off return check with "RETURN REASON - N ALTERED/FICTITIOUS"

I got a letter on Friday Nov. 29 th from a Ms Tamara Benson stating that I was selected to do the mystery shoppper thing, well I went on to do what I was supposed to do, there was supposed to be $300 for me and $240 to spend and send in the application with the description of what the store was like and all. Well I get a statement from my bank stating that the check is a fake and now we are out $540 rent to pay by the 13th of December this month our we are kicked out of our apartmen and me and my husband and 2 yr old son will have no home..
